The Jeep Grand Cherokee introduces a new special edition called “S”. It brings a more sporty and eye-catching look, highlighted by Granite Crystal colour accents on the logos, front grille inserts, bumper trims and rear lights, and 20″ aluminium wheels, also in Granite Crystal colour. This new special edition also features a front grille and window surround trim in Gloss Black, and a dual exhaust tailpipe finished in Black Chrome. In addition, the standard sport suspension further emphasises this sporty character.
The interior also features Gun Metal anodised details, black wood finishes and eye-catching black stitching on the steering wheel and dashboard. The bright metal Mopar pedals and the Nappa leather and perforated black suede seats with eye-catching black stitching, inherited from the SRT, give the cabin the same sporty feel seen in its bodywork. The dual-panel panoramic sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and dual-zone climate control are all standard on the Grand Cherokee S.
As for infotainment, the Jeep Grand Cherokee S comes with the new UconnectTM system with an 8.4″ touchscreen that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing the driver to control many functions, including the climate control and infotainment. The instrument cluster also features a user-configurable 7″ display, and the 506 W Alpine audio system with subwoofer and Active Noise Cancellation comes as standard to improve in-car sound quality.
Beyond the sportiness of the new special edition, the Jeep Grand Cherokee S retains its great 4×4 capability thanks to the Quadra-Drive II system, a permanent all-wheel-drive system that includes a electronic limited-slip rear differential (ELSD). The new S also offers Selec-Terrain, a traction management system with five preset modes (Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud and Rock) that ensures optimal performance on any surface, and Hill-descent Control, a low-speed off-road descent limiter that lets the driver control the Grand Cherokee’s speed on steep, rough slopes using the steering wheel paddle shifters, without needing the accelerator or brake.

In terms of active and passive safety, the Jeep Grand Cherokee S offers Forward Collision Warning, which detects when the Grand Cherokee is approaching another vehicle too quickly, issues audible and visual alerts, and brakes for 1.5 seconds if the driver does not react in time; the Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, which provides visual and audible warnings plus corrective steering if the vehicle drifts beyond the lane limits or if the driver’s hands are off the wheel; Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, which helps drivers adjust the preset cruise speed when another car approaches in the same lane or stops in the same lane; and Blind Spot Monitoring, which assists drivers when changing lanes by warning of vehicles in their blind spot through illuminated icons in the rear-view mirror and a driver-selected audible signal. This last system is combined with Rear Cross Path Detection, which warns the driver, when reversing out of a parking space, of vehicles crossing behind through illuminated icons in the mirror and a driver-selected audible signal.
It also comes as standard with a ParkView rear backup camera with Trailer View, which displays the area immediately behind the vehicle on the navigation screen when reverse is engaged; the parallel/perpendicular parking assist system, which simplifies parking; and the ParkSense front and rear sensor system, which works together with the ParkView rear camera.
Under the bonnet sits the 3.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine producing 250 CV, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The new special edition will be offered in a choice of 3 exterior colours and will be available at Jeep dealerships across Spain from May 2018, priced from 80,000 euros.
