KIA will develop its Carsharing service platform in Spain in collaboration with Repsol

KIA’s intention to take part in the carsharing business with its Wible platform takes shape in Spain through an agreement with Repsol.

Carsharing continues to win over users. Alongside the offers from Car2Go, Emov and Zity, Madrid will soon also welcome Wible, the carsharing service offering developed by Kia which, in our country, will have Repsol as a 50 percent partner.

The Korean manufacturer and the Spanish oil company have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of a new carsharing service in several Spanish cities. Initially, Wible’s activity will start in Madrid with a fleet of vehicles made up of an as-yet undetermined number of Soul EV models, 100% electric, which leads us to expect that, a priori, the service will be very similar to that of the other operators already active in the Spanish capital.

And we say a priori because the offering that KIA and Repsol are launching together on the streets of Madrid will also include units of the Niro Hybrid, which suggests the vehicles may be used beyond the central area of Madrid.

The agreement makes Repsol one of the first oil companies in the world to take part in an operator of this kind. Repsol already participates in the Basque Country with Ibil, a company specialising in the production of electric vehicles.
