KIA Niro PHEV: a crossover that covers more than 55 km in 100% electric mode
The new KIA Niro PHEV can travel more than 55 km in 100% electric mode. It incorporates several systems that improve its consumption and emissions efficiency.

KIA has presented a range of models at the Geneva Motor Show, including the new KIA Niro plug-in hybrid. This model will be on sale in Europe starting in the third quarter of 2017.
The KIA Niro PHEV combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a high-capacity lithium polymer battery. The latest addition to KIA’s crossover range reduces CO2 emissions by 30 g/km compared with the standard Niro hybrid. Its electric-only range is over 55 km.

“The new plug-in hybrid versions of the Niro and the Optima Sportswagon will help KIA reach, by 2020, its target of improving fuel economy by 25% compared with 2014 levels,” says Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer of KIA Motors Europe.
The new KIA crossover features a regenerative braking system that recovers kinetic energy and recharges the battery when decelerating or braking. It also incorporates a revolutionary eco-driving assistance system – Eco Driving Assistant System – which provides intelligent information on how to drive most efficiently at every moment. The device helps maximise energy savings thanks to real-time suggestions received by the driver. In addition, the touchscreen of the multimedia system shows the battery charge level and the location of the nearest charging points.

The new KIA Niro plug-in hybrid has a 324-litre boot, while passenger space is equally generous. Optionally, the crossover offers a package that allows it to tow up to 1,300 kg on a braked trailer.
