The new RS5 returns with a more efficient and refined engine
The second generation of the Audi RS5 was unveiled in grand style at the Geneva Motor Show, with a spectacular design and a new engine that is much more efficient

The RS family of the Audi Sport division keeps growing with the all-new Audi RS5, a very sporty and radical model that combines with the already elegant lines of the A5 series. In addition, certain details of the new RS5 pay a small tribute to one of the icons of the racing tracks of the Ingolstadt house: the spectacular Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO.
As with the rest of the RS family models, a styling and aerodynamic kit is used that sets it apart from the base model. At the front, the Singleframe grille has been fitted, which is wider and flatter, while next to the headlights with Matrix LED technology there are air intakes and outlets. Seen from the front, you will notice a greater width, specifically 15 mm, while from the side you will see that its length is 74 mm longer and the wheels are 19 inches, or 20 inches as standard for Spain. At the rear, the RS-specific diffuser, the spoiler and the RS exhaust system with oval outlets stand out.

But without a doubt, one of the main novelties of the new Audi RS5 lies under its bonnet, with an engine built from scratch specifically for it. It is a 2,900 cc TFSI twin-turbo V6 that delivers a power output of 450 CV and maximum torque that now rises to 600 Nm. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.9 seconds and, with the optional Dynamic package, its top speed is set at 280 km/h. This engine is also notable for being 17% more efficient than its predecessor, thanks on the one hand to its consumption of 8.7 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 197 grams per kilometre and, on the other hand, thanks to the 60 kg weight reduction of the Audi RS5.
Continuing with the mechanical side, the entire engine of the Audi RS5 works in combination with the 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and, as could not be otherwise, with permanent Quattro all-wheel drive. The gearbox has more sporty tuning, all with the aim of reducing gear-shift times. The standard suspension is five-link on both axles, although if we want a more radical and/or exclusive drive we can opt for the sport suspension with Dynamic Ride Control, ceramic brake discs and dynamic steering tuning.

Once we open its doors we also find an exclusive and totally sporty interior, where red contrasts stand out on elements such as the steering wheel with its flat-bottomed section, the seat belts or the floor mats. The RS sport seats are upholstered in Fine Nappa leather with diamond-pattern stitching. With the ignition on, the Audi Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel lights up, where we find useful information such as tyre pressure, engine torque, G-forces, or a light that tells you when to shift up upon reaching the rev limit.
In terms of equipment, all owners will be able to enjoy a wide range of technology, both standard and optional. The MMI system works with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can be operated by voice control, while the touchpad is used for other functions such as zooming or scrolling. It also has other technologies such as the Head-Up Display or up to 30 driver assistance systems.
The Audi RS5 is scheduled to arrive on the Spanish market next June, with a starting price of €99,300, which includes as standard features such as the MMI Navigation Plus system, Head-Up Display, Audi Virtual Cockpit, Audi Connect Safety&Service, three-zone climate control, Audi Sound system, Audi parking system plus and Smartphone interface, among others.
