Kia reveals more details about the new 2014 Soul

Kia Frankfurt 4

Of all the novelties that Kia will present at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, the most important is the renewed Soul. In its first press release, the South Korean brand only gave a few hints about its new features, but now it has broken them down and explained them in more detail. The new model is more than a restyling, as it now uses the Cee’d platform.

Its handling on the road will therefore improve, which, according to Kia, will be noticeable in more comfortable driving. The suspension has been modified to enhance that feeling, the bodywork has been stiffened by 29%, and sound insulation has been increased (the noise reaching the cabin has been reduced by three decibels).

The slight increase in exterior dimensions will translate into more interior space for legs, shoulders and head, as well as a boot volume that is 4% larger. This will offer 354 litres, which can be increased by adding the false floor and the extra litres gained by folding down the rear seats.

The engines remain unchanged from the previous model. However, the equipment has been expanded with more features such as LED front lights with daytime running function and LED rear lights, keyless entry, front seats with heating and ventilation, a panoramic roof, automatic climate control and cruise control.

The bodywork can be painted in eleven new shades, and the roof in three other colours: red, black and white. To further personalise the car’s look, customers will have the option to purchase the Styling Pack, shown in these first photographs. The pack includes various exterior components painted in Piano Black to give the car a more “rugged” personality. Kia also states that the catalogue will feature more accessories.
