Opel has released all the technical details of its most powerful and versatile model. This is the Insignia OPC, the sporty version of its mid-size saloon.

Like all Insignia models, it has received a restyling that has improved both its exterior and interior appearance, also incorporating new interior finishes, as well as new materials and more advanced equipment.

The Insignia’s chassis has been modified extensively; in fact, Opel states that 60% of its components have been redesigned to deliver the necessary response.
For example, we find an ESP software exclusive to this version, as well as special adjustable-damping shock absorbers. Furthermore, the Insignia OPC is equipped with an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system that modifies the torque split between each axle in real time via a Haldex-type clutch, combined with an electronic limited-slip differential.

The heart of the Opel Insignia OPC is a turbocharged 2.8 V6 engine that now delivers 325 CV and 435 Nm of torque. It is a powerful engine that allows the largest OPC to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 6 seconds in the saloon, and in 6.3 seconds in the Sports Tourer estate body. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h, although it can be raised on request. In that case, the top speed increases to 270 km/h (265 km/h for the Sports Tourer).
The braking system has also been modified to match the vehicle’s performance, and now relies on a new Brembo system with fixed calipers. The transmission can be chosen as a 6-speed manual or an automatic with the same number of gears.

The homologated fuel consumption for this Opel is 10.6 litres per 100 km. The interior also features new elements, such as a new performance monitor that is displayed on the optional 8-inch screen. The steering wheel, if the automatic gearbox is chosen, will feature paddles for manual gear changes without having to take your hands off the wheel. It can also be heated, as an optional extra.
