Ranger Raptor, the new off-road pick-up from Ford Performance, is set to be unveiled in February

The pick-up Ranger range from Ford will expand next February with the unveiling of the new Raptor variant, the most extreme off-road version ever produced by the oval brand for this model. The Raptor will be presented by Ford on 7 February at the Bangkok Motor Show, a version never before seen in the Ranger range, which is currently being fine-tuned in New Zealand.

It is precisely the guys at Ford New Zealand who have posted the video accompanying this article, where you can see the high performance of this new version, which features a considerably reinforced chassis compared with the 4×4 version of the road range.

Going into more detail, the suspension has likewise been reinforced with new shock absorbers and top-quality springs. As for the styling elements, the Raptor features new front and rear bumpers, oversized at the front and with larger front air intakes, new front headlights and wheels and tyres adapted to the superior performance that the Raptor offers over the road version. The test vehicles were fitted with 285/70 R17 tyres.

Ford is preparing this variant because, for the first time, it is going to sell the Ranger in the North American market. Until now it had not done so because the F-150, a model much better suited to and more appreciated in North America, was already on offer there. However, the launch of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 has opened the door for the Ranger which, just as already happens with the F-150, will include this extreme off-road Raptor version in its range.

The development and fine-tuning of the Ranger Raptor has been carried out in New Zealand by the engineers of Ford Performance, the division in charge of the brand’s competition models, who have already shown in the aforementioned video some of the thrilling performance the Ranger Raptor is capable of delivering.
