Lada Niva Bronto, the iconic 4x4 is renewed without losing its essence

The facelift of the most capable version of the new Niva brings numerous novelties, especially inside, inherited from its big brother, the Travel

Lada Niva Bronto

The Lada Niva went on sale in 1976, so since then 45 years have passed, no more and no less. However, throughout all these years, the Niva has stayed true to its essence: the concept of a spartan car with good off-road capabilities and an practically unchanged look.

In this way, the new Lada Niva Bronto 2021 keeps these fundamental pillars and comes with plenty of novelties, especially inside, which we will tell you about now.

The new Bronto is the most off-road-ready version of the Niva and will be offered in two trims. The first is called Luxe and features a slightly simpler design, with metal bumpers, widened wheel arches housing 15-inch wheels, and plastic-colored mirrors, in short, something simpler.

Prestige, the top version

The other trim is called Prestige and is the most prepared and eye-catching version of the model. Unlike the Luxe version, it features plastic bumpers, a specific grille, fog lights and, in short, more standard equipment. As options, Lada offers in its catalogue for both trims a large LED light bar for the roof and a camouflage paint to dress up the iconic Niva.

As we have said, the interior is one of the strong points that has changed the most with the new Niva Bronto, as it now has a new instrument cluster, new seats that can optionally be heated, air conditioning and a higher level of finish, something the legendary model could not boast before. All this interior has been inherited from the Lada Niva Travel, the big brother with SUV aspirations of the Bronto.

Size doesn’t matter

Under the bonnet, Lada has fitted a 1.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83 CV and 129 Nm of torque. Although these figures may seem modest for a car weighing 1,285 kg, thanks to its 4×4 traction, its self-locking differentials on both axles and its new reinforced suspension, they are more than enough to move the new Bronto with ease.

Unfortunately, the new Lada Niva Bronto will only be sold in Russia and will most likely start at a price below 10,000 euros. A really good price with which to get one of the best examples of indestructible vehicles in a renewed version, alongside another legend of the people in our country, the C15.
