Land Rover Discovery Sport: Mild Hybrid petrol and diesel engines for every taste

The revamped Land Rover Discovery Sport offers more engines, both diesel with mild hybrid technology and petrol, as well as several special variants.

Land Rover Urban Edition 2022

The Land Rover Discovery Sport, the seven-seat SUV from the British brand, has just received new engines to expand the range’s powertrain options. The family-oriented SUV gains new petrol and diesel units with Mild Hybrid technology to improve its appeal and environmental performance. These arrive after the launch of the plug-in hybrid version, the P300e.

This model features a range of four-cylinder diesel engines, which in the all-wheel-drive variants come with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The diesel engine is available in two power outputs. The first is the D165 variant, which produces 163 CV. The second is the D200 variant, which increases output to 204 CV.

Fuel consumption with these two diesel engines starts at 6.1 litres per 100 kilometres. CO2 emissions start from 165 g/km. The battery fitted to both variants stores the energy generated during deceleration, which reduces fuel consumption by powering various electrical systems on board.

Petrol engine

In addition to the Mild Hybrid diesel engines, there is a new petrol engine. It powers the Land Rover Discovery Sport Black Special Edition. This turbocharged petrol engine delivers 290 CV. This version benefits not only from the engine but also from design improvements that enhance its performance. In the five-seat version, it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. CO2 emissions are 210 g/km.

Revamped interior

Another available version is the Land Rover Discovery Sport Urban Edition. It is based on the R-Dynamic, which comes with a considerable amount of equipment that makes a difference. Darkened aluminium trim, Luxtec Suedecloth and Alcantara seats and a contrasting black roof are the hallmarks of this special edition.

As for the rest of the versions, they also feature a revamped interior. On the technology side, the new Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment systems have been fitted. The system improves connectivity and adds the Spotify app to the offering.

Connectivity includes over-the-air updates, so owners will not need to visit a workshop for this. In addition, the cabin includes an air filtration system††. It filters the finest particles and helps improve the air quality inside the vehicle.

Also added are ADAS systems, such as a 3D surround camera, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor and Rear Collision Assist.

The revamped Land Rover Discovery Sport starts at 51,250 euros, a figure that rises depending on the chosen version and the equipment specified.
