Land Rover publishes an official image of the new Defender ahead of its debut in Frankfurt
The new Land Rover Defender has shown its front end ahead of its public debut on 10 September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The British carmaker has released the first teaser official image of the latest generation of the Land Rover Defender ahead of its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 10 September. According to the brand itself, “over the decades, the Land Rover Defender has established itself as one of the most reliable and capable off-road vehicles available to the general public”.
That is why the company is eager to ensure that the new Land Rover Defender lives up to its predecessor. With this in mind, tests of the new Land Rover Defender have been carried out in some of the most treacherous areas on earth, and in the period leading up to the vehicle’s debut in Frankfurt, the remote Valley of Castles in Kazakhstan was tackled.

As the brand itself reports, this is the culmination of an exhaustive global testing programme that has seen the Land Rover Defender withstand temperatures ranging from -40º to +50º. The teaser image of the new Land Rover Defender that the carmaker has just published shows a preview of the front of the new off-roader, featuring a slim front grille and the prominent Defender badge along the bonnet. Fittingly, the vehicle is also covered in mud.
Unfortunately for the company, the new Land Rover Defender has recently been stripped of all camouflage on the set of the latest James Bond film. It looks decidedly more modern and smoother than the previous-generation Land Rover Defender and seems quite fitting for a Range Rover badge.

Land Rover Defender 2020, ready for its debut at the Frankfurt Show
The new Land Rover Defender will be sold in three configurations: 90, 110 and 130, with no fewer than three different diesel engines and three petrol engines, including a plug-in hybrid version with 403 CV of power. For the brand, “the road to unveiling the most capable and durable 4×4 from Land Rover began in one of the most remote places on earth, among the imposing 300 m canyons of the Valley of Castles in the remote Charyn Canyon, Kazakhstan”.
“Across seven decades of pioneering innovation, Land Rover has earned a unique place in the hearts of explorers, humanitarian agencies and adventurous families around the world. Proven in the harshest environments on earth, the new Defender keeps this bloodline alive. Expedition 001 is the culmination of an exhaustive global testing programme in which the new Defender successfully completed 45,000 individual tests and withstood temperatures ranging from -40 to +50 degrees Celsius. Prototype models have already supported Tusk operatives at the Borana site in Kenya to help with lion conservation, and have been driven through the dunes of Dubai by experts from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies fleet,” the manufacturer stated.

They also wanted to point out that “driven by passion and respect for the original, the new Defender offers extensive transformation capability and advanced all-terrain technologies to redefine adventure for the 21st century, while remaining true to the pioneering spirit that has been a hallmark of Land Rover for 71 years”.
