LDV's new SUV will be called Tarantula and could come out of China to reach Europe
LDV, a brand controlled by the Chinese company SAIC, will be manufactured in China and although it will launch in the Asian market in 2020, it could later reach Europe

Chinese manufacturers are attracting more and more attention. These are manufacturers that are betting heavily on electric mobility and whose models are beginning to arrive in European markets, as we have already seen in recent days with the arrival of the Chery Exeed TX Plug-in Hybrid in Germany in 2020. This is the case, at least according to the brand, of the new SUV that LDV is preparing for next year.
The LDV Tarantula Concept will arrive, precisely, in 2020 and will be the brand’s next model to feature a fully electric powertrain, alongside other options that will include petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. For now, the one they most want to promote, and which will probably generate the most interest, is the fully electric model, which, according to what they have reported, will have a range of 580 kilometres on a single charge.

The design of the new LDV Tarantula Concept will offer a mid-size SUV, very similar to the one presented as a concept not long ago. It will sit below the LDV D90, which is the brand’s entry-level SUV. For now, we also know that the platform underpinning this SUV will also be used in a future model to be called G50, which will be an MPV designed for Chinese families and will be a similar size to the Renault Grand Scenic.

And following the LDV Tarantula Concept, the brand wants to keep offering new models, perhaps aiming not only at the Chinese market but also at the European one. One of the models arriving soon is a fully electric commercial vehicle that will be called EV31. Given that this is a brand owned by SAIC, this vehicle will share elements with other electric vehicles made by the company.
We have more information about this model, such as the engine it will feature, a 70 kW unit, and two battery packs, of 35 kWh or 53 kWh. The latter will offer a range of 320 kilometres, a fairly interesting figure, especially for getting around the city.
