Lucid Motors is committed to fixing the software problems with its new Gravity SUV

The availability of constant updates and the inherent potential of the Gravity SUV suggest that Lucid Motors is gradually correcting course.

The Lucid Gravity is shaping up to be one of the most attractive luxury electric SUVs on the market, with a spacious design, impressive range and performance that puts it on a par with the best. However, the first months since its market launch have been marked by criticism from early owners of the software faults they have been finding in the vehicle.

Reviews from some specialised North American media outlets have also highlighted this problem, stating that this electric SUV offers better driving feel than its rivals, but at the same time the ownership experience is held back by the constant software faults of the vehicle.

Fortunately for the brand’s customers, both current and potential buyers of the company’s luxury SUV, Lucid Motors’ response has not been long in coming. In an email sent to the first owners of this electric SUV, Marc Winterhoff, the company’s Interim Director, assured them that the company is aware of the existence of these software faults that have negatively affected the satisfaction of the first owners.

A lot of work still lies ahead

Lucid Motors recently released update 3.3.20, which resolves key issues such as key detection, camera stability, audio and navigation problems, and allows drivers to drive immediately after unlocking with the NFC card without the need for re-authentication. However, the resolution of all these problems has not been sufficient.

In upcoming OTA software updates, Lucid Motors promises to improve access control, on-screen video playback, the responsiveness of the steering wheel controls, the climate control logic and compatibility with Tesla Superchargers. The company’s engineers are therefore fully focused on eliminating bugs and adding new features on a regular basis.

Lucid Motors Gravity Back

Looking ahead to next year, 2026, Lucid Motors has recently launched the Touring version of the Gravity, priced around 15 thousand dollars lower than the Grand Touring that we all already know. Likewise, towards the end of this new year that is about to begin, new Lucid Motors models are expected to reach the market, including a rival to the Tesla Model Y priced at around 50 thousand dollars.
