Maserati MC20 First Edition: Mansory's new, radical and spectacular makeover

Mansory makes the Maserati MC20 look like a car straight from the racetrack with its spectacular “First Edition” makeover

Normally, when a high-performance tuner picks a model for a new project, the Ferrari or Lamborghini are usually the favourites, but Maserati has once again made its way into this section with the arrival of the MC20, a model that already has several tuning treatments from various brands, from specialists such as Novitec or Mansory, the latter with a makeover that was announced to us just over a month ago.

Mansory’s style is radical, aggressive and has a distinctive signature, something that perhaps was not fully carried over in that makeover, perhaps a little toned down compared with what we are used to, until now… And the German tuner is back in action with the Maserati MC20 First Edition, a makeover that brings us the full essence of Mansory both outside and inside and, more importantly, this time its original V6 engine sees its power substantially increased.

But let’s start with its exterior, where a kit has been fitted that, besides improving the MC20’s aerodynamics, also gives it a much more aggressive look, making it seem like a racing version. Its front end is modified almost in its entirety, with a large open grille accompanied by side air intakes that grow considerably in size, while a generous front splitter helps channel the air. Higher up, the standard bonnet is replaced by a new design with new air intakes, as can now also be seen above the front wheel arches.

From the side view of the Mansory Maserati MC20 First Edition, the enormous work carried out by the specialist on the exterior is also evident. From here we can see how the wheel arches grow in size and widen its silhouette, housing new forged wheels called FV.5, measuring 21 inches for the front axle and 22 inches for the rear axle, but mind you, that’s not where it ends. Between the wheels are the doors, completely redesigned, also playing a very important role in the aerodynamics, as their design is directly linked to the new and enormous air intakes just in front of the rear wheel arches.

These new air intakes allow better airflow through the bodywork, which is also used to help cool its V6 engine, as does the new engine cover, also made entirely of carbon fibre and with a new design for the air outlets. The rear spoiler it incorporates will not leave you indifferent either, simply spectacular, as is the two-level rear diffuser with a central brake light, incorporating at its upper level the four exhaust outlets, which are positioned even higher than the original.

If we now open its doors, Mansory will allow its customers to let their imagination run wild for the interior design of the Maserati MC20 First Edition, as well as for choosing the bodywork colour. In any case, Mansory shows its working capacity on the unit in the photos, with a design pattern in which yellow, white and black are the star colours, blending perfectly with the colours of the Italian flag running across the centre of its sports seats.

Mechanically, let’s remember that the standard Maserati MC20 features the 3,000 cc Nettuno V6 engine, which produces 630 CV together with 730 Nm of torque. With Mansory’s modifications, these figures rise to a very respectable 720 CV and 850 Nm of torque, enabling it to reach 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h. To achieve this, Mansory only had to modify the electronics management and install a new high-performance exhaust line of its own manufacture.
