Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55: a G-Class to celebrate AMG's 55th anniversary

Following the recent Mercedes G-Class Edition 550, the ever-popular Mercedes G-Class once again serves as the basis for a special edition from the German brand. This time, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 is an exclusive model commemorating no less than the 55th anniversary of AMG, featuring exterior and interior personalisation details and exclusive equipment. The price for this special equipment package, available to order from October 2022, is €17,850 in Germany, which brings the final price close to €200,000 if we consider that the Mercedes AMG G 63 without this special equipment already starts from €183,000.

585 hp twin-turbo V8 for a very special G-Class

Under the bonnet nothing has changed: the Mercedes-AMG G 63 features the powerful 585 CV twin-turbo V8 and 850 Nm of peak torque, allowing the already legendary 4×4 to reach a top speed of 220 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Undoubtedly one of the best “ambassadors” Mercedes could have chosen for such a special celebration, given the unique and exclusive character of this off-roader. Although the German brand has already hinted that more surprises will arrive over the coming months for AMG’s 55th anniversary.

For now, the AMG G 63 Edition 55 can be ordered in Obsidian Black or a striking gloss white, and it is fitted with imposing 22-inch wheels with a seven double-spoke design finished in matt grey with glossy details. Other exclusive details include the fuel cap finished in chrome with the AMG logo. Standard equipment includes the AMG Night packages.

The interior is dominated by red and black in a striking contrast, with the door sills in stainless steel featuring the illuminated AMG logo. The AMG monogram also appears on the velour floor mats, alongside the “Edition 55” inscription. The AMG Performance steering wheel trimmed in microfibre with AMG and 55 badges, as well as the matt carbon-fibre trim, complete the décor of this version, with which the brand will supply a custom AMG cover made from breathable, tear-resistant fabric with a flannel lining, to protect the vehicle from dust or unwanted scratches when parked in the garage.
