Mercedes-Benz launches a new version of the eVito with 480 km of WLTP range

The Mercedes-Benz eVito thus gains in versatility, no longer being an electric van focused exclusively on urban use.

Until now, Mercedes-Benz has been selling its eVito electric van in a single configuration, which includes an 85 kW powertrain paired with a 60 kWh net battery pack. The German manufacturer has thus sought to strike the perfect balance between range and final vehicle price, since fitting a higher-capacity battery pack raises production costs.

However, for some Mercedes-Benz customers, the roughly 300 km of WLTP range this electric van has offered so far is not enough, and for some time they have been asking the Stuttgart firm for a version that solves this problem.

After listening to these customers’ complaints, Mercedes-Benz has now finally decided to launch a new version of the eVito, equipped in this case with a 90 kWh net battery pack, which boosts its range to 480 km WLTP and puts it on par with the vast majority of electric vehicles on the market. This same battery pack is already offered by Mercedes-Benz in the EQV and also in the eVito Tourer, intended for commercial use.

The German manufacturer offers the option of combining this new 90 kWh battery pack with the same 85 kW powertrain that the eVito has been using, but this is no longer the only option available. Customers who require more power can now opt for a more powerful 150 kW powertrain, also inherited from the eVito Tourer.

How much does this new version of the eVito cost?

In Germany, the base price of the eVito with the 90 kWh battery pack and the 85 kW powertrain is 46,000 euros including VAT, which comes down to about 38,655 euros once the 19 percent VAT applied in that country is deducted. This price includes a four-year maintenance package and a battery pack warranty covering up to 160,000 km or a maximum of eight years.

It should also be noted that this new 90 kWh battery pack for the eVito not only increases the vehicle’s range but also the charging power supported, which rises from 50 kW (optionally expandable to 80 kW) to 110 kW. According to the manufacturer, this makes it possible to increase the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 40 minutes.

In terms of dimensions, nothing obviously changes. The eVito is still offered in two lengths: Long at 5,140 mm and Extra-long at 5,390 mm, with a cargo volume of 6.6 cubic metres. However, it should be borne in mind that the new 90 kWh battery pack is only available with the latter.

Like the eVito Tourer, this electric van features the MBUX multimedia system with a 10.25-inch central screen, a 5.5-inch colour screen instrument panel, keyless start, electric parking brake and various assistance and safety systems.
