The Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG Concept would reach the market in 2025 to put the very Porsche Taycan on the ropes.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG Concept could become the rival to the Porsche Taycan and will arrive in 2025. The star brand has just announced its future investments in premium models and has taken the opportunity to present its new Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG Concept. This model offers a futuristic vision of its next high-performance electric saloon.

The concept is based on the architecture called AMG.EA from the star brand, which is dedicated to future fully electric AMG models. The first production unit of this model will reach the market in 2025. Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, has stated that the “Vision AMG shows, with a spectacular style, how the electrification of Mercedes-AMG could look while remaining faithful to the brand’s aesthetic.”

“The study’s extreme proportions create fascination and a passion for performance, which is what AMG is all about.”

Some sources have reported that AMG actually intends to put the model, or a derivative of it, into the production line. The production Vision AMG will have four doors, and will have no pillars, but the rear doors will be hatchback-style, in order to make it a grand tourer. The spectacular brake lights could also make it to the production line.

With four doors and plenty of space for passengers, the Vision AMG can become either a flamboyant model or a sensible everyday car. But whatever it turns out to be, it won’t be small. It has a length of 5.10 metres; to put that in perspective, the concept is a little longer than the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT 4Matic and 147 mm longer than a Porsche Taycan.

Size matters because it allows comfortable travel, but it can also accommodate a large battery pack under the floor, between the axles. Moreover, it is considerably lower than the Mercedes-Benz EQS. This ride height gives the Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG Concept some aerodynamic advantages. It also features wide wheel arches, 22-inch wheels with aerodynamic covers, and a very special paint scheme.

It is finished in Alubeam silver with three-pointed stars on the tail. It is inspired by Formula 1 single-seaters. Robert Lešnik, head of exterior design at Mercedes-Benz, has pointed out that “we don’t develop new platforms for a single model,” which means it will not be the only one based on the AMG.EA architecture.
