Mercedes Clase E Superlight, new information and data

Mercedes is still immersed in developing an ultralight Class E, specifically about 400 kg lighter than the standard version, which would come paired with a fuel-cell and electric motor.

It has been a long time since Mercedes surprised us with an idea that many of us, at first, classed as surreal for everyday use: the creation of vehicles much lighter than even many of today’s supercars can manage.

Today I want to tell you about the project Mercedes Clase E Superlight, a project with which Mercedes is taking the issue of excess weight in its vehicles very seriously and wants to prove once again that everything is possible, above all bringing technology that until now was exclusive to road models within reach to some extent.

It is therefore no surprise that Mercedes once again wants to go down in history as the pioneer in using a technology that sooner or later all its rivals will have to incorporate, namely building vehicles almost entirely from carbon fibre, which will not only reduce weight but also noticeably increase the structural rigidity of the vehicle.

Precisely thanks to this increase in rigidity, Mercedes could opt to eliminate the B-pillar of the vehicle. With these innovations we would be talking about a Class E almost 400 kilograms lighter than the standard version. This model should move thanks to a fuel-cell engine combined with a new electric motor capable of delivering 200 horsepower.
