The Mercedes CLE Coupe family has just welcomed its newest member, the new Mercedes CLE 53 4Matic+ Coupe, a car that is set to impress anyone who gets behind the wheel and wants to experience new sensations. Visually, it stands apart from the lower-spec variants thanks to small changes to its bodywork.

The imposing AMG front grille is accompanied by a redesigned, more striking front bumper that reinforces its image. Other visible changes are the wheel arches, which have grown by up to 58 mm at the front and 75 mm at the rear. They house 19-inch alloy wheels, although 20-inch wheels are available as an option.

At the rear there are other changes, such as the LED rear light clusters, which are linked by a dark red line. A small rear spoiler has been added, along with a twin exhaust at each end of the rear, and you can opt for the AMG Optics package. This includes a larger diffuser, another spoiler and several aerodynamic elements at the front and rear.

Other packages available to give the car a more attractive and personalised look are the AMG Night and the AMG Carbon. Inside, we find an AMG Performance steering wheel, with a black leather and Alcántara cover. There are several carbon-fibre elements on the dashboard, while the seats are upholstered in leather and microfibre, with red stitching in several places. There are various leather and Nappa options so that each owner can choose their favourite.

Engine

The Mercedes CLE 53 4Matic+ Coupe features a 3.0-litre six-cylinder inline engine, with turbocharging. It has been improved with new combustion chambers, revised fuel injection and other small modifications that increase its efficiency. This powertrain works in combination with an integrated starter-generator, which increases power by 21 CV and torque by 205 Nm. It uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which offers a slight saving in consumption and emissions.

In total, this combination delivers a power output of 449 CV and a maximum torque of 560 Nm, although this can rise to 600 Nm if the Overboost function is activated. As for the transmission, it uses the well-known AMG 9G-SPEEDSHIFT nine-speed gearbox. It sends the engine’s power to all four wheels, although it has a function that can send all the torque to the rear wheels if selected.

The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration offered by this engine is 4.5 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, although it can be raised to 270 km/h with the AMG Driver’s Package. The model offers several driving modes, so it is possible to adapt elements such as the steering, transmission and suspension to the different needs you prefer.

Although it has already been presented, it has not been announced which markets this model will be aimed at or what price it will carry, so we will have to wait a while to learn all these details.
