Mercedes has just opened orders for the CLS, and the first units will arrive in March

Mercedes is in full swing, with the presentation of several models over the last few months. A week ago, the star brand unveiled to the world the new A-Class, a vehicle with the demanding task of surpassing the previous generation in every respect. The CLS was a vehicle that marked a before and after, not only within the brand but also on a global level. This is because the German saloon was the forerunner of a new segment: the four-door coupé. The star brand bet everything it had on a groundbreaking design that combined elegance and sportiness perfectly. 15 years later, we now have the third generation of the CLS, full of novelties and technology.

The star brand made sure that one of its most special models would meet market demands, and to that end it has included the latest innovations from Mercedes. For now, the new CLS will only be available with two engine options but, little by little, new powertrains will join the list of choices, such as the 53 AMG.

Mercedes will initially offer one diesel and one petrol engine, both characterised by a high level of equipment and power figures high enough to move the new CLS with skill. As the diesel representative, we find the 350d 4Matic engine, which includes a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder inline heart capable of delivering 286 CV and 600 Nm of torque. This option is ideal for customers seeking a good balance between consumption and performance.

For those who love Mercedes and want a more radical, fiery side, the brand has prepared the CLS 450 4Matic for them, which also features a six-cylinder engine capable of delivering 367 CV of power and 500 Nm of torque. These figures allow the CLS to reach 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, but the novelties don’t end here.

Mercedes has also included a special version to celebrate the launch of the new CLS. Until now, the Edition 1 variant had only been used on vehicles with the AMG badge, but on this occasion they wanted to make an exception. It will be available during the first year of the four-door coupé’s life and will include a series of exclusive elements, both aesthetically and inside. At the same time, the star brand has revealed the prices of the CLS with the engine options mentioned above.

Buyers of the new saloon will have to pay 77,500 euros if they opt for the diesel variant and, if they choose the petrol engine, the price will be 77,400 euros. Meanwhile, the Edition 1 package will be available on both models, whose prices are 89,600 euros and 89,978 euros respectively.
