EQA Mercedes Electric Cars Concepts Salón de Frankfurt
Mercedes will unveil its next compact electric car at the Frankfurt Motor Show
The compact electric car from Mercedes will go on sale in 2020 and will help boost the German brand’s carsharing service.

Mercedes will unveil the prototype of a new electric model at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which is already being built near the brand’s headquarters in Stuttgart (Germany). The concept will belong to the company’s future EQ range of electric vehicles.
We don’t have more information about the vehicle yet, but according to several rumours it could be called the EQ A and could compete with the BMW i3 and the production version of the Volkswagen I.D.
The 100% electric model will be built on the company’s MEA platform and will have five seats inside. The vehicle is expected to have a conventional style, but it will likely feature a front grille similar to that of the EQ family’s crossover concept.

We don’t have details yet about the propulsion system the model will offer, but everything suggests it could have a single electric motor driving the front wheels. Later, the brand could also present a performance variant that would add a rear electric motor for extra power; this version would also have four-wheel drive.
The model will be one of the ten electric cars the brand plans to launch before 2022. Mercedes’s first zero-emission car, the EQ C, was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year. In addition, the brand could also launch two other models from the EQ family: the EQ E and the EQ S.

To develop its upcoming electric models, Mercedes will invest 10,000 million euros, in addition to the battery factory they are already building.
The next electric car from Mercedes will go on sale in 2020 and will cost around 40,000 euros. The brand wants it to become one of its best-selling models and to use it to boost its car2go carsharing service.
