MG wins with less than 5 years in the market: it has already sold 100,000 units

It has been a little under five years since the MG brand returned to the Spanish market, now under the umbrella of the multinational SAIC Motor. Over this five-year span, many things have happened. The brand has been gaining presence in the European market and in Spain, so the figures it has achieved in this short period are more encouraging than expected.

And indeed, MG has just announced that 100,000 units have been sold in Spain. This is the total of sales across all the models the brand offers, a figure that is far from bad and shows that they have succeeded in offering models that match the wishes and needs of Spanish buyers.

The network of 115 dealerships opened over the last few years makes the brand very accessible to Spanish buyers, and this has boosted sales in the Spanish market. In 2021, MG offered two electric models, the MG ZS and the MG EHS, and registered 27 units of these. That year it sold 746 units, but in 2022 sales rose to 6,901 units.

In 2023 sales figures increased to 29,040 units, and then to 30,786 units in 2024. In 2025 this figure has already been surpassed, and several months remain before the year ends. In these first eight months of 2025, the brand’s sales growth has reached 58%.

A multi-energy powertrain range to cover every need

The varied engines allow all users to access the powertrain they need or prefer. The MG range includes ICE, HEV, PHEV and EV versions, so it covers every option. Among the models, we find the MG ZS and ZS Hybrid+; HS and HS PHEV; MG3 and MG3 Hybrid+, MG4; MGS5 EV and Cyberster, which offer variety, equipment and functionality to the 100,000 users who already enjoy one of these cars and to those who will buy one in the near future.

One of the MG models has been the best-selling car during the months of August, September and December 2023 and in February 2025. This honour has gone to the MG ZS, an SUV that has now become the best-selling SUV in Spain and is the second best-selling in the overall sales ranking of the Spanish market.

For its part, the MG HS has become the best-selling plug-in hybrid car during the month of August, with 919 units registered. The number of units sold of each model over these last years can be detailed, and this is the total per model:
