MINI goes camping: this is the rooftop tent for the electric version
If you’re thinking about buying a MINI Cooper SE or a MINI Cooper SE Countryman ALL4, the electric and plug-in hybrid versions, you can add a rooftop tent

MINI is a brand of city cars that always aims to offer the best service for those who enjoy the city. But it has just gone one step further and offered something that is going to excite those who want to get out into the countryside. The new electric model in the range, the MINI Cooper SE, and the plug-in hybrid variant, the MINI Cooper SE Countryman ALL4, can become a comfortable and practical tent thanks to its new accessory.
It is a tent that can be installed on the roof bars and that offers a great option for sleeping in the middle of the countryside or going camping with all the comfort this kind of option allows. To carry it properly, a transport system is included that allows it to be carried on the roof of the car.

Deploying the tent, once installed on the MINI’s roof, is very simple. It uses a hydraulic system that allows it to unfold by itself. To do so, you only need to release the safety catches, and the system takes care of shaping it correctly and getting it ready for use.
To get up, a foldable aluminium ladder has been included, which also travels in the upper case. Once up, users will find enough space to sleep two people comfortably. The tent features fabric windows that can be folded back for better ventilation. They are protected by a mesh that keeps mosquitoes and other insects out, so they can stay open in the countryside and during summer. As can be seen in the images, there are two different models.
According to the brand, adding this accessory does not affect aerodynamics. The MINI Cooper SE has a range of 230 kilometres and is powered by an electric motor with an output equivalent to 181 CV. The plug-in hybrid variant can run in pure electric mode for 51 kilometres.
