Morgan's factory in England, from above by drone

Morgan has published a video of a tour of its factory in which, thanks to a drone flight, you can see the workshops where the different models are assembled

One of the dreams of many car enthusiasts is to see a factory from the inside. Everything done there is aimed at a single purpose: building the cars that will later be driven. Morgan is not the best-known brand, nor is it a type of vehicle we can drive every day, but that perhaps makes it even more interesting. Visiting the plant where these retro-styled cars are built is quite something.

Moreover, it is not a typical factory. That is, it is not a plant where cars are mass-produced; rather, it is a plant where cars take shape through processes that are mostly manual. So the brand has presented an overview of the entire complex, thanks to the use of a drone.

A brand with history

Morgan is a company founded in 1909, and in 1914 it moved to the facilities we can see in this video. The plant could be visited until the arrival of the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so they wanted to make those visits possible again, but from the perspective of a drone, higher and faster.

The tour begins in the original 1914 workshop and moves through the other buildings that were erected later. Today, each of them houses one of the manufacturing processes for its models. The drone shows where the chassis joins the running gear, passes through the assembly area, where the aluminium bodywork is fitted, and reaches the area where the wooden components are installed.

As an interesting fact, at the 1:15 mark you can see an operator shaping the rear wooden mudguards with a mould that is said to be between 80 and 90 years old. No one alive can confirm that, because nobody remembers when it was first used.

The drone camera flies over several units of the Morgan Plus Four and Plus 8, as well as a variant of the CX-T, the model focused on off-road mobility. It also shows a one-off car that Morgan is working on, although it passes very briefly and there are no details about it.

What does not appear is the three-wheeler it is developing, which is expected to be presented within a few days. The workshop in charge of that model is outside the drone’s route, so we will not see it until it is officially unveiled. The video is an interesting experience that brings us closer to this brand and its models in a different way. Enjoy it!
