Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, faster than we thought

According to a test carried out on the Mustang Boss 302, we are dealing with an underrated vehicle capable of outshining even a Aston Martin DBS on the track

Indeed, I certainly wasn’t wrong with the headline. According to the people who carried out the test you can find below, at the end of this post, the new Mustang Boss 302 is much faster than any of us initially believed, apparently as fast as or even faster than Ford had promised.

Specifically, and according to the guys at Auto Sport, in their test carried out at the Hockenheim circuit they managed to set a much better time than the one previous tests achieved with vehicles of the calibre of the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé, BMW M3 Coupé, Audi R8 4.2 FSI, Ferrari California or Aston Martin DBS

What’s more, according to Christian Gebhardt, the Mustang Boss 302 equipped with the PCCB brake package apparently has better braking power than the Porsche 911 Carrera S and, frankly, I think so too, which is quite a claim.

If there is one thing that has characterised every Mustang to date, with more or less performance, it is precisely their difficulty in delivering good lap times on the track. I should mention that the unit tested featured improvements that achieved a 10% improvement in the chassis and vehicle dynamics.

Mechanically, I should remind you that the version you see on screen mounts a huge 5.0-litre V8 capable of delivering a maximum output of 440 horsepower and 515 Nm of peak torque, sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox connected to a Torsen-type rear differential.
