New engines for the BMW 7 Series: two plug-in hybrids and improvements to the diesels
These three new variants of the BMW 7 Series will arrive from 2023, although they can be reserved starting on 12 October of this year.

The new BMW 7 Series has only just arrived, but it already has important things to offer those who choose this premium saloon. The range of engines is expanded with the arrival of new plug-in hybrid versions and the update of a diesel engine that is already on offer. These new versions reach the European market and other markets around the world, though not all of them.
With these new engines, the BMW 7 Series range is completed and the cars in the range can offer a different type of engine so that every driver can have the engine they prefer.

Two plug-in hybrid engines
Among these novelties we find two new plug-in hybrid powertrains. The first variant is the BMW 750e xDrive, which is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine, combined with an electric motor. Working together, the car can deliver 490 CV and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. In this way, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 4.8 seconds.

NEW BMW 7 SERIES ENGINES
The second plug-in hybrid variant is the 760e XDrive. It uses the same 3.0-litre combustion engine, but the combined power rises to 571 CV and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. The acceleration time drops to 4.3 seconds.
As for the battery, both variants use the same pack. It has an 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, located in the floor of the car. With this capacity, the BMW 750e XDrive is capable of covering up to 87 kilometres in electric mode. The BMW 760e XDrive, for its part, reaches an electric range of up to 85 kilometres.
The electric drive system is housed in the transmission casing, so it offers good performance and achieves characteristics that usually belong to larger and more powerful engines.
Updated diesel engine
The diesel engine fitted to the BMW 740d XDrive, which has six cylinders and 3.0 litres, has been improved. The steel pistons have been replaced and the injection has been upgraded. In addition, this engine now works with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It features an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic gearbox.
This version delivers 300 CV and a maximum torque of 670 Nm, and reaches 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Orders for these new versions will open on 12 October. The BMW 740e XDrive will start from 114,300 euros, the BMW 750e XDrive from 123,400 euros, and finally the BMW 760e XDrive starts at 144,000 euros.
