New features in Opel OnStar: find parking or book a hotel room
Opel has added two new functions to its OnStar connectivity system: searching for a hotel or locating a car park through Booking and Parkopedia.

The on-board help system Opel OnStar has recorded more than nine million interactions since its launch in summer 2015, most of them through the myOpel App.
To coincide with the launch of the new Opel Insignia, the company has presented two new services that will be available on all models. Car park search and the option to book a hotel room through an OnStar advisor are its new features.

The wide range of assistance services this system offers now includes the option to press the blue button to locate the nearest car park and receive the address in your browser via Parkopedia (a parking price comparison site), or to book a hotel room anywhere through Booking. “Partnerships such as those with Booking and Parkopedia help add value to our connectivity and assistance service. For the benefit of our customers, we will continue to expand our Opel OnStar services with new partners,” says Todd Gaffner, head of Opel OnStar in Europe.
Opel’s Vice President of Marketing, Tina Müller, has stated that “all it takes is pressing one button for an OnStar advisor to attend to the customer. This is what we at Opel call personalised service.” The system has already received nearly 1.2 million calls from customers and more than 21,000 emergency calls in its first year and a half of operation.

Among Opel’s future plans is the possibility of offering temporary diagnostic alerts, information that, at the customer’s request, will be sent to the dealership responsible for the car’s maintenance. By the end of 2017, the German brand plans to bring OnStar to 33 countries in Europe and offer the service in 23 different languages.
