New Ford EcoSport: new technology and safety for 2018

SUVs are all the rage and, above all, those derived from compact cars that offer more restrained dimensions than a traditional crossover. It is a type of vehicle that is enjoying great success in today’s market, and brands have taken notice. That is why Ford has decided to renew one of its star vehicles and equip it with the latest technologies on the market. Specifically, we are talking about the new Ford EcoSport.

The Ford EcoSport is being renewed with the aim of keeping its success intact and continuing to generate high sales volumes. Several elements change in order to preserve the legacy left by the first EcoSport, both aesthetically and technologically, and today we are going to tell you what its new features are.

The main difference we find is that the Ford EcoSport adopts a rougher yet refined look. We are looking at a vehicle that is more off-road than ever thanks to its new exterior design, which makes it more aggressive. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned to help achieve this new look and give the American SUV a much more attractive appearance.

At the same time, a new ST trim will be available for the EcoSport, providing a sportier look to the brand’s SUV. This package will include side skirts, bumpers inspired by those developed by Ford Performance, and roof bars finished in black. But this sporty off-road styling is not just for show; it is also functional thanks to the mechanics it incorporates.

For the first time, the Ford EcoSport includes a four-wheel drive system. This allows the new American SUV to split torque up to 50/50 and achieve maximum grip on the road. It will be advantageous not only when tackling tricky terrain, but also on the road, as it provides an extra margin of safety. At the same time, a new range of engines has been introduced.

It includes a new 1.5 EcoBlue diesel engine producing 125 CV, more than enough to move the brand’s smallest SUV. Even so, Ford has considered customers who prefer a petrol engine, and two engines of 125 and 140 CV will be offered. These outputs will derive from the 1.0 EcoBoost and offer fuel consumption worthy of a compact car.

Furthermore, the new Ford EcoSport will include new technologies, such as the innovative SYNC 3 system, which allows you to connect your smartphone via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, a rear-view camera, cruise control and an exclusive audio system signed by B&O Play. This allows Ford to present a much more advanced, attractive and safer vehicle. For now we do not know its prices, but the new Ford EcoSport will be available throughout next year.
