New Mazda MX5 Miyako

The Mazda MX5/Miata has proven to be a best seller for the Japanese brand and is now reaching its 20 years on the market. For this reason, the MX5 will receive a few modifications that will be seen in a pair of special, commemorative models of the range, the MX5 Miyako.
Two variants of the MX5 Miyako will be available, one with a soft-top and another with a hard-top, both roadsters, as is appropriate for this model (the rather unusual name was taken from a group of paradisiacal islands in Japan). When comparing one option with the other, the type of roof and the metallic paint of the hard-top model stand out, as does the difference in engines.
The model with the soft-top will have a 1.8 engine, while the hard-top will feature the two-litre engine, keeping the engine choice that current MX5 customers have, with no changes to the power specifications. However, it will now have a front anti-roll bar, fog lights and 17-inch wheels.
While the two special colours will be at no extra cost (metallic and red), Mazda will also offer quite a few accessories that used to be optional as standard equipment on both models: central remote locking, a leather steering wheel with sound system controls (six speakers and an auxiliary input), electric windows, alarm and immobiliser, together with a limited-slip differential, stability control and traction control for the two-litre engine model.
The edition will be limited, although it is not known whether some models will reach Spain or not. If they do, there would be fewer than 500 units.
