Nissan is once again partnering with Arctic Trucks to launch the Navara AT32 special edition, now with upgraded components and coming soon to Spain

Off-road enthusiasts are finding it increasingly difficult to find modern vehicles with a clear off-road focus, as these models have been disappearing from manufacturers’ catalogues in favour of SUVs. We even find that brands specialising in this type of 4×4 vehicle no longer have them in their line-up, as is the case with Nissan, where if we want a vehicle with these characteristics the closest option will be the Navara.

A pick-up will never be the most suitable vehicle for pure off-road purposes, but if we look at Nissan, this type of vehicle is currently reflected in the Navara, a pick-up that, straight from the factory or with suitable preparation, will allow us to enjoy nature and difficult terrain more easily. In this regard, Nissan previously partnered with Arctic Trucks, an Icelandic company specialising in preparing off-road vehicles for driving in difficult conditions or on the narrowest terrain.

This partnership gave birth to the Nissan Navara Off-Roader AT32, an improved version of the Japanese pick-up which, although it can be found in various preparations in the Arctic Trucks catalogue, Nissan offers in markets where it does not arrive as a special edition. The first version achieved great success thanks to its blend of technology, comfort and off-road performance, so Nissan has now decided to relaunch it, improving certain aspects beforehand.

The Nissan Navara Off-Roader AT32 takes the N-Guard trim as its reference, so from the outset we benefit from aesthetic improvements in black finish on the front grille, the exterior mirror housings, the side steps, the door handles, the fog light surrounds and the rear bumper. All of this is backed by generous standard equipment including features such as hill start assist, hill descent control, intelligent front collision avoidance system, intelligent 360º camera or the electric sunroof, among others.

In addition to the standard equipment, Arctic Trucks has taken care of incorporating other components that will allow us to tackle difficult terrain. These include new improved aluminium protections compared to the previous version of this special edition, which have a new shape that helps protect the underside of the Navara Off-Roader AT32 more completely. Another new element is the new Nokian-branded tyres in 31.6′ size, which maintain excellent off-road capability while improving consumption and emissions; these tyres are fitted to special alloy wheels painted in satin black, which feature dual valves to allow a better adjustment of tyre pressure when driving over different terrain.

But that’s not all: moving on to the wheel area, we see that the wheel arches have been widened, offering greater protection to the bodywork and, a little further in, a high-performance suspension signed by Bilstein has been installed, so we won’t have to worry about what terrain we’re driving on. Finally, optionally, we can equip the electronic locking differential at the front in case we need greater traction in the worst conditions and, to improve its wading depth up to 800 mm, we can install a snorkel.

For the moment we do not know the price of the Nissan Navara Off-Roader AT32 in the Spanish market, although we will not have to wait long to find out, as its sales in Spain will begin at the end of February.
