New Volkswagen Polo GTI: this is its discounted price... and these are its rivals

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI is now available on the Spanish market. And it comes with good news: its 2.0 TSI engine, which gains a slight boost in power from 200 to 207 CV, and a discount campaign that brings its initial list price of 32,500 euros down to a final price of 29,800 euros.

The most sporty VW Polo: 207 CV and DSG gearbox

With some adjustments to the four-cylinder 2.0 TSI engine with turbocharging, the Polo GTI now claims 207 CV, which allows it to reach a top speed of 240 km/h. The gear change is always the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox, a guarantee of speed, precision and efficiency. The sport chassis with settings specific to this model and a 15 mm reduction in body height, together with the XDS electronic differential lock and the oversized brakes with larger discs, also contribute to a sporty and exciting driving experience.

The new Polo GTI comes as standard with features such as Matrix LED headlights with dynamic lights, the Travel Assist assistant that controls steering, and the accelerator and brakes to maintain cruise speed in a range from zero to 210 km/h. Volkswagen also incorporates new customisation options, with the “Hello Technology” and “Hello Safety” packs.

The rivals of the Volkswagen Polo GTI

Among the rivals of the Polo GTI, the alternative on price would be the Ford Fiesta ST, with a 1.5 engine producing 200 CV and a very well-tuned chassis, which offer performance and dynamic behaviour very similar at a much lower entry price: the Fiesta ST is available from just under 26,000 euros.

At a price similar to the Polo, the Hyundai i20 N, with 204 CV, is available from around 30,500 euros. I think it is one of the best options in its class if what you are looking for is a small car that, like the Polo GTI and the Fiesta ST, you can use every day, but where above all else the priority is delivering the most sporty sensations behind the wheel.
