Nissan applauds the announced elimination of the IGIC on electric vehicles in the Canary Islands
Nissan signed an agreement with the Cabildo de Tenerife to promote electric vehicles. Following this, the Canary Government has announced the elimination of the IGIC.

The rollout of electric vehicles worldwide is imminent and is essential to counter the pollution that threatens our planet. Several brands are actively promoting and encouraging sales of models that dispense with petrol as a means of getting around, but this has been accelerated thanks to the Canary Government and the support it has received for this stance from Nissan. The Japanese firm has signed an agreement with the Cabildo de Tenerife to boost sales of 100% electric models, and the Canary President has responded emphatically.
Nissan took advantage of the Canary Islands to carry out the presentation of two of its most successful electric models, the Leaf and the e-NV200. Following this, the Japanese company signed an agreement with the Government to establish a plan to promote and encourage the purchase of battery-powered vehicles, with the aim of considerably reducing pollution and further protecting the environment of the islands, something that is also intended to be implemented across the rest of Spain.
Little by little, more and more brands are backing the move to develop electric and hybrid models for every sector, something Nissan has been working on for some time with the e-NV200, the least polluting van in the world. However, the backing of the Canary Government has been fundamental, since it has made a very interesting announcement that will encourage many of those still undecided to buy a 100% electric vehicle.

Fernando Clavijo showed the world his clear commitment to cars that rely on this type of powertrain and that is why he has announced the elimination of the IGIC -Canary Islands General Indirect Tax- on 100% electric vehicles. Without a doubt, this will allow potential customers residing on the islands to save a considerable amount of money on the product itself and help tackle high pollution levels.
At the same time, the Government will invest an exact sum of 2 million euros to establish and extend a wide network of charging points for electric vehicles, which is essential to resolve any problem in the event of a complete lack of electricity. Nissan shows its agreement with this proposal and expects successful sales results with the new Leaf, which already has more than 20,000 orders behind it.

The Japanese brand also intends to support the expansion of electric vehicles across the rest of Spanish territory and the installation of various charging points. Without a doubt, the introduction of the Nissan Leaf and e-NV200 will considerably help improve the current situation , and the support provided by the Canary Government will encourage the purchase of this type of vehicle.
