Nissan Leaf 2013, longer range and greater efficiency
Nissan launches in Japan the 2013 version of the Leaf. Its range has increased to 228 km thanks, among other things, to an 80 kg reduction in the vehicle’s total weight.

After more than two years on the European, Japanese and American markets, the Nissan Leaf receives a series of updates in both its styling and its mechanics. The engineers have focused most on the latter, aiming to make it more efficient for everyday use, in an attempt to boost the modest sales this fully electric model has achieved.
On the outside, the 2013 version comes equipped with a new set of alloy wheels and LED headlights. Three new body colours have also been added to those already available: dark metallic grey, bright pearl white and black.

The interior features an updated multifunction display, a BOSE sound system with seven speakers and an improved ion-based system that promises to eliminate and kill germs , giving the car an excellent smell. Leather seats are available as an option and, together with the renewed interior, offer greater comfort to its occupants, something the previous model was widely criticised for, mainly due to its value for money.
This new version will also bring a Leaf with minimal equipment, in order to significantly reduce the model’s base price.

The biggest changes are in the mechanical area. The motor, the AC-to-DC converter and the inverter are now joined together, reducing the total weight of the assembly by a tenth. With this measure and others not specified the Nissan Leaf 2013 has lost 80 kg, increasing its range to 228 km. The regenerative braking system has also been improved to maximise energy recovery.
In addition to the update to the propulsion system, the engineers have minimised energy consumption by improving the interior heating, the heated seats and the heated steering wheel.
For now, it will only be sold in Japan.
