Nissan presents its new range of crossovers for 2016

In 2016, Nissan continues to bet on its range of crossovers, made up of three models that have become benchmarks for this type of vehicle, each in its segment, and that have evolved since they first appeared to make the driving experience more intense

If there is one range for which Nissan is recognised, it is that of the crossovers, cars designed to tackle difficult terrain but without losing an ounce of elegance and comfort for city driving. These cars are among the favourites of those who enjoy getting out into the countryside and returning to the city, because in both environments, so different, these models are equally attractive and efficient. In the crossover range of Nissan we find the Qashqai, the X-Trail and the very popular Juke.

The latter has probably been the one that popularised the format of a small and functional SUV. It is a car that brings out the best of both worlds and manages to stand out in both. Its success has made it the sales leader in that configuration, and the options offered to customise it mean that each buyer has the driver assistance system or the aesthetic or safety features they prefer.

The Qashqai presented its second generation in 2014, adding a battery of Premium equipment within the Protection Shield Nissan, which in 2016 will reach the entire range, either fitted as standard or available as an option. The engines were also improved, including more widespread turbocharging. This makes it possible to reduce engine size without giving up any of the specifications offered by larger-capacity engines.

The three Nissan Crossover models offer a driving experience that is dynamic and approachable at the same time

As for the X-Trail, it is the largest of all the brand’s crossovers. It has all the features present in the rest of the range, but with a more robust body and more imposing characteristics than the other two models.

All three models are equipped with electronic power steering to improve steering behaviour, which allows the driving mode and its response to be adapted to different types of terrain thanks to the options available on each model. The engines under the bonnet of the Nissan crossover range have also evolved in these new versions of each model.

The Nissan Juke has become a benchmark in its segmentOne of the standouts is the 1.2 DIG-T, which features turbocharging and replaced the 1.6-litre engine previously fitted to the different models in the range. It delivers 115 CV and a maximum torque of 190 Nm, although it is also tuned to a lower output for those who do not need that much power day to day. The engine can be paired with an XTRONIC automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox.

The most powerful models, such as the Juke NISMO or the corresponding versions of the Qashqai and the X-TRAIL, are fitted with a 1.6 DIG-T engine that ranges from the 190 CV of the Juke Tekna up to 218 CV in the most powerful models. In terms of diesel, there is a 1.5 dCi 110 CV unit in the Juke and Qashqai, and another 1.6 dCi of 130 CV in the Qashqai and X-Trail.

This range remains present throughout 2016, which is just beginning, and aims to continue being among buyers’ preferences, equipped with the brand’s latest technology and with the added appeal that these models come off the assembly line at the Zona Franca factory in Barcelona, which is also important for the Spanish economy. The Nissan Juke, the Qashqai and the X-Trail offer that approachable yet exciting driving experience that we all look for.
