Now it's official! The new Honda Jazz reveals details of its e:HEV technology and its prices for Europe
This coming summer the new Honda Jazz will arrive in Europe, also confirming the power of its e:HEV hybrid system and the prices it will carry

A few months ago we showed you the work Honda had done on its urban vehicle representative, the Jazz, a model whose new generation will substantially change its image, moving closer to the image the brand has established with its latest models. Another major novelty will be its engine, as it will adopt e:HEV hybrid technology, of which we finally have concrete data.
As I was saying, one of its major novelties will be its e:HEV hybrid technology, which will serve as the development basis for Honda’s future hybrid models arriving in Europe, and of which we already have specific data. The new Honda Jazz will incorporate under its bonnet a 1,500 cc DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, which will connect to two electric motors called “generator” and “driver”, together with a lithium-ion battery where the energy will be stored, while the power is transmitted to the wheels through a fixed-ratio transmission with an intelligent control unit, e-CVT.

With this powertrain the new Honda Jazz will be capable of producing 109 CV of power along with 258 Nm of torque…
Correction for accuracy: the source specifies torque of 253 Nm, so the correct rendering is:
With this powertrain the new Honda Jazz will be capable of producing 109 CV of power along with 253 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h. If the Jazz was already an ideal vehicle for frequent urban use, with its e:HEV hybrid technology it will be even more so, as combined consumption figures are now set at 4.5 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 102 g/km for the standard body and, for the Crosstar version, 4.8 l/100 km and 110 g/km, all registered under the WLTP test cycle.
Thanks to its hybrid technology, the new Honda Jazz will offer three automatic driving modes, with transitions between them that will be imperceptible to occupants. The modes available are EV Mode, for fully electric driving; Hybrid Mode, with electric motor assistance; and Engine Mode, which, through a lock on the clutch mechanism, allows driving solely on the petrol engine. In Hybrid mode the battery can be recharged thanks to the electric motor-generator; EV mode does so during deceleration or braking, and in Engine mode the available energy provides an extra boost during strong acceleration.

Despite having this hybrid system in a vehicle of small dimensions, to which the system’s own battery must be added, Honda’s engineers have ensured that interior roominess remains the same, preserving one of the Jazz’s hallmarks. In fact, boot capacity is set at 298 litres, which increases to 1,203 litres when the multi-configurable rear seats are folded down Honda Magic Seats.
With the arrival of new technology in the Honda Jazz, more technology is also added to its interior, now incorporating a new LCD touchscreen interface that will be very easy to use in order to avoid driver distraction, while response times have been reduced by 58% compared with the outgoing generation. The touchscreen will come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and USB connectivity, and for the first time in the Jazz you can install a Wi-Fi hotspot and incorporate the Honda personal assistant debuted in the electric Honda e.

Naturally, all this will be accompanied by a wide range of driver assistance systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control and the Lane Departure Warning and Prevention system, which will be included for the first time in the Honda Jazz and will come standard. These join other systems that will assist and look after occupants, as well as up to 10 airbags that it can now be fitted with.
Honda has confirmed that the new Jazz will arrive in Europe this coming summer, with a starting price of 22,900 euros for the standard body and 27,900 euros for the Crosstar variant.
