Opel accelerates its electrification plans: Mokka and Vivaro full electric will arrive in 2020

Both Opel and Vauxhall will begin producing fully electric versions of their Mokka X and Vivaro models starting in 2020

La versión nueva Ultimate se añade mas lujo y exclusividad al Opel Crossland X y al Mokka X

The electrification of the Opel range is already a reality. While the brand has already begun marketing the future electric Corsa, accepting orders for it at dealerships in the various European markets in which it operates, as well as the plug-in hybrid version of the Opel Grandland X, which will also reach markets during 2019, Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller has confirmed that the brand “is putting maximum effort into electrifying our product line-up,” as demonstrated by the upcoming launch of the “battery-powered versions of the Mokka and Vivaro models” planned for 2020.

Opel’s future plan provides for the electrification of all its model ranges through the introduction of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and/or full electric versions across all of them. Opel aims to introduce these new variants at affordable and competitive prices, thus keeping to its motto of producing cars for everyone. According to a recent company statement, Opel expects to sell the electric Corsa at a price so attractive that “it will make electric mobility affordable for many customers; it will be a truly electric car for the people.”

For Opel, 2019 will also be a very special year, as the celebration of its 120th anniversary as a car manufacturer is joined by the acceleration of its electrification programme for its current model range. “Opel is going electric! — Lohscheller states — We announced it in the presentation of our PACE! strategic plan, and we are delivering on it.

In addition to the electric Corsa, Opel will launch the Grandland X in 2019, whose production will begin shortly at the brand’s factory in Eisenach. The SUV will feature a hybrid propulsion system that will produce power equivalent to 300 CV and will incorporate the new e-All Wheel Drive electric four-wheel traction technology.

In addition, to commemorate the brand’s 120 years, Opel will launch a special commemorative series next year based on each of the models in its current range. This special edition will add to them a wide “variety of innovative technologies and design and comfort features as standard equipment, at particularly attractive prices,” according to a recent brand statement. Advance sales of this series’ units have already begun in most of the markets where the brand is present, with order books opened at the manufacturer’s official dealership networks.
