It has been 160 years since Opel first went on sale, and to celebrate, the brand wants to showcase the design and models it has created over this more than century-and-a-half in the market. The virtual tour 160 Years of Opel can be visited through the link the brand has set up on its website, opel.com/opelclassic.

Thanks to this tour of the Opel museum, visitors can take a complete journey through the decades, viewing the brand’s first models, in the form of sewing machines or bicycles, and the evolution of its vehicles up to the most recent ones. The documentation work carried out at the museum has been very thorough, with a team that has photographed each of these vehicles and makes them available for brand enthusiasts to enjoy.

A methodical and orderly tour

The virtual tour 160 Years of Opel allows viewers to see all the exhibited vehicles from any angle, leaving no corner unexplored. This makes the experience highly immersive, and viewers can discover each vehicle in a way they would not expect, offering a very striking and illustrative view. In addition, the tour is bilingual, to make it easier to follow.

The museum features 600 historic vehicles, including concept models and others that paved the way for the models that have travelled the roads of the whole world. Besides these vehicles, the collection also houses 300 objects, which likewise came out of the brand’s workshops: bicycles, unicycles, sewing machines and other machinery that was the origin of the brand.

There are also aircraft engines, another field in which Opel’s technology has been applied. Each of the exhibited objects has information points in the form of yellow dots that can be pressed to display information about that object.

Visitors can follow different routes through the halls, so they can learn about the various prototypes and final vehicles at their own pace. If you want to see the latest models, simply head to the most modern area, or discover electric vehicle prototypes long before this type of vehicle became popular. About 50 years ago, the Opel Elektro GT already existed, proving that electric mobility was possible, although with the limitations of that era.
