Opel has officially announced the launch of its most affordable and smallest model, which it has named KARL.

It is a completely new vehicle, which will take the place previously occupied until a few months ago by the Opel Agila, and which will have a estimated starting price of €9,500.

The KARL has been conceived as a far more complete and mature vehicle than its predecessor. The design bears certain similarities to its predecessor, but has been suitably adapted to the new design language of the lightning bolt brand. The front recalls the brand’s latest creations thanks to a grille flanked by headlight units with an appearance similar to that of the Corsa or Adam.

The side profile reminds us of a “mini-MPV” thanks to a waistline that rises progressively alongside the glazed surface. The rear has a simple design, without flashy touches, because the KARL, above all, aims to be a practical, pleasant and everyday-usable vehicle.

In the interior something similar happens, with a pleasant and attractive design to the eye. The materials used are mostly hard but well-fitted plastics. The large amount of available space stands out, allowing passengers in the second row of seats to travel in complete comfort. The equipment is quite extensive, with features that include, among other elements, automatic climate control, navigation with smartphone connectivity, heated seats and steering wheel, or lane change assist.

As for the engines, not all the details have yet been revealed, but it is expected that a single 1-litre three-cylinder engine producing 75 CV will be responsible for moving the Opel with performance that, while not making it a rocket, will be more than sufficient to move it nimbly through today’s congested cities, the favoured territory of the small Opel KARL.
