Opel will unveil its future action plan in June
On June 28, Opel will announce its action plan for the coming years, aiming to return to profitability, while it may also settle its differences with the unions in Germany.

The situation these days at the factories of Opel and at the brand’s offices in both Germany and GM’s, its commercial partner in the USA, is no cause for celebration, since an agreement has been reached with the workers at Ellesmere Port in Great Britain, as well as securing production of the Astra in Poland; countries with lower redundancy costs and cheaper labour than in Germany.
However, the red figures have not stopped weighing on the brand over the last few years and throughout the current fiscal year, which is why the CEO of Opel, Karl-Friedrich Stracke, has assured that the action plan will be presented on June 28 for the coming years, whose goal will be to keep Opel from falling over the edge.
One of the contentious points at Opel is knowing what will happen to the Ruesselsheim plant, which will be left without production of the future generations of the Astra, a model on which Opel is betting most of its chips. If the situation continues as it is, the brand could decide on some alternative use for this plant, given that its dealings with German unions have been rather conflictive.
It only remains to see how the business plan will be received by GM, which is not very inclined to be lenient with German unions and is more interested in seeing the brand start making money at last.
