Peugeot is already working on the Peugeot 5008 for 2024, which will bring important new features
A French media outlet is revealing the first details about the P74, the next-generation Peugeot 5008, a crossover already embracing the new sustainable mobility

We are on the verge of seeing the evolution of the popular flagship within the fashionable trend in the crossover range of the lion brand. The mid-life update of the SUV, which will be known as the Peugeot 5008 2021, will bring a revision and update that is both aesthetic and, above all, technological. A fine-tuning that will ensure this car faces the last years of its commercial life cycle in optimal fashion before the arrival of the new generation of the Peugeot 5008.
The third generation will replace the 2021 model at some point in 2024, a new model on which the company is already working under the internal code P74, as revealed by the French media outlet L’argus.
Architecturally related to the upcoming Peugeot 3008, whose internal designation is P64, the 2024 Peugeot 5008 will represent a leap over the current model because, although the one presented in September 2020 is considered second generation, it will represent a deep restyling that bridges the first and third generations, while being closer to the one the largest Peugeot SUV will offer in the French lineup.

Either way, what is interesting about this new Peugeot 5008 will be its conception.
Starting from a blank canvas but with one need: electrification
From its more attractive styling to its enhanced interior space, especially in the 5-seat configuration, where space for passengers in the second row will be particularly comfortable, or prioritizing high occupancy as an SUV with up to 7 seats, the 2024 Peugeot 5008 will bring a mechanical offering driven by the electrification proposed through the manufacturer’s e-Motion programme.
Despite maintaining an offering with combustion engines, the bulk of the next-generation Peugeot 5008 range, the 2024 model, will include the aforementioned petrol-powered 1.2 PureTech and diesel 1.5 BlueHDI engines but, above all, electrified powertrains.
On one hand, the more lightly electrified Peugeot 5008 will be the one with a mild hybrid or soft-hybrid configuration. Although the source of this information does not specify the launch of a full hybrid (HEV) variant, according to its report there will be several options such as the Peugeot 5008 2024 PHEV or plug-in hybrid which, as a novelty, will abandon the well-liked 8-speed EAT8 automatic gearbox in favour of a new unit, also a dual-clutch automatic with 7 ratios.

As the evolutionary peak in terms of new sustainable mobility based on electric power, the Peugeot 5008 EV will arrive with this generation of the crossover from 2024.
Likewise, the Peugeot 5008 electric will be offered in different configurations based on the fundamental installation of 1 or 2 motors, which will bring corresponding and differentiating drive specifications, though their maximum power, in any case, will reach up to 250 kW, equivalent to 340 CV.
