Peugeot Landtrek, the new European pick-up for the global market
The importance of pick-ups is growing and Peugeot also wants to be part of this growing market with a new model that will be distributed in several markets

The trends in the automotive industry are being introduced little by little, but once they become a reality, everyone wants to be present in that segment. Electrified vehicles are increasingly popular, but so are pick-ups: commercial vehicles with off-road capability and an open cargo bed for hard work anywhere. And now, Peugeot is entering this segment.
It does so through the Peugeot Landtrek, a model with these characteristics that continues the design line of the French brand’s cars, but elevates it with a more intense look. The front keeps the look of Peugeot models, with this brand’s traditional grille, but larger and with a more robust appearance.

The front also features LED daytime running lights in the shape of fangs, as first seen on the Peugeot 508, although in this case they are positioned differently, taking advantage of the grille design. As for the versions of the Peugeot Landtrek, there are two different ones. The single-cab version has a length of 5.39 metres, while the double-cab version is 6 centimetres shorter.

The vehicle’s weight is close to 2,000 kg, it can carry 1,000 kg in its bed, and its towing capacity reaches 3.5 tonnes, making it a truly practical vehicle for the uses it is intended for. It will be available with two engines, one with a petrol engine and another with a diesel engine.
The petrol option will have an engine that delivers 210 CV, and the diesel version will have 150 CV. The diesel engine will only be offered with a manual gearbox, while the petrol version will also offer an automatic gearbox as an option. As for drive, it can be rear-wheel or all-wheel, although most orders are expected to go for all-wheel drive.
As for equipment, we find M+S tyres, but also towing driver assistance, stability and traction control for off-road use, and a hill-descent assistant. A 360º camera system provides a full view of the surroundings, and the interior will have all the comforts typical of a Peugeot model, with an infotainment system featuring a 10-inch screen.
And now the bad news. In principle, Peugeot does not plan to distribute this pick-up in the European market; it has been designed for the South American and African markets. But given how popular these vehicles are becoming, it would not be surprising if, after some time selling in these markets, it eventually reaches the European market to compete with the other brands fighting in this segment.
