Peugeot withdraws the 1007 from the market

Another one bites the dust: the Peugeot 1007 was conceived as a different city car, with the versatility offered by its electric sliding doors, which were quite novel for a city car at the time. I remember some Peugeot ads showing how useful its doors were in tight spaces or when parking.
But there was a bigger problem: the price. Despite being a different kind of city car, with novel doors and full standard equipment, its starting price of around €16,000 did not help sales. The most expensive version reached €18,000, a price that was undoubtedly very high for the segment it was aimed at.
In 2008, only 545 units of the Peugeot 1007 were sold, so with these figures Peugeot has withdrawn the model from the market. Some units may still be found in stock, and they might now be offered at an attractive price.
