PIMA Aire Plan: almost 1,200 applications in two weeks

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA) has received almost 1,200 reservation applications for the Environmental Boost Plan (PIMA Aire), so it can be said that the plan is an initial success.
Let us recall that the plan is aimed at the renewal of light commercial transport with new vehicles, thereby limiting polluting emissions due to the average age of these vehicles. MAGRAMA has already committed funds of EUR 2 million out of a total allocation of EUR 38 million.
The programme provides an incentive of EUR 2,000 for the purchase of vehicles up to 2,500 kilos or EUR 4,000 for those over 2,500 kilos, through a subsidy scheme shared between the government and the manufacturers. For light commercial vehicles, the contribution is one thousand euros from the Ministry of the Environment and another one thousand from the manufacturers; for vehicles exceeding 2,500 kilos, the contribution will be 2,000 from the Ministry and 2,000 from the manufacturers.
In exchange for the subsidy, vehicles of up to 3,500 kilos, aged no more than seven years, must be handed in for scrapping. At present, and according to today’s updated figures, the number of applications to join the plan has reached 1,181.
