Pope Francis unveils a Dacia Duster as Popemobile
Dacia has presented to Pope Francis the new Popemobile it has donated for the use of the Supreme Pontiff, in the form of a modified Dacia Duster for that purpose

When we think of a car designed to protect a public figure, our minds most likely go to the big brands. Those that offer a powerful engine, very high levels of comfort and a very high level of protection for the VIP in particular. Do you remember the Popemobile? It is the car in which the Pope usually makes his public appearances, and now a Dacia Duster has joined this special fleet of vehicles.
It is not a model we would think of when talking about a high-security car for one of the most famous people in the world. It is a modest vehicle, whose market price in Spain starts at 11,400 euros, but which fits very well with the humble spirit of Pope Francis.

A Duster adapted as a Popemobile
The Dacia Duster that was given to the Supreme Pontiff by the Renault Group was developed by the brand’s prototype department and the Romanian coachbuilder Romturingia. Together they modified the model, lowering the floor by 30 mm compared with the production version to help occupants get inside, and it was fitted with the well-known glass dome that protects the Pope.
The model offers five seats, one of which is set up for the Pope. As for the technical specifications, it has not been specified whether this model has any specific modifications. It may keep the same engine as the production model. This would be a 115 CV Blue dCi diesel engine with four-wheel drive, which is what this version offers, priced at 19,650 euros in our country.
Of course, the Popemobile features a white bodywork, the colour associated with the Pope and present across the entire fleet of Popemobiles serving Francis on his journeys around the city.
