Porsche 911 Blu Edition: The most eco-friendly 911 in history

Porsche never stops surprising us. One day it launches one of the fastest sports cars in the world, such as the 911 Turbo, and the next it creates one of the most eco-friendly.

That is precisely the path the brand appears to have taken with its latest creation, supposedly called 911 Blu Edition, which will become the most fuel-efficient 911 in history.

The word supposedly needs emphasis, because although the news comes from one of the most important portals in the United Kingdom about Porsche, it is still surprising to hear of a 911 whose main purpose is efficiency and low consumption.
The truth is that the information we have is very detailed, technically describing the specifications that would make this 911 one of the most attractive of recent years.

Starting with the engine, we find a 6-cylinder boxer whose displacement has been reduced to 3.4 litres, with a maximum output of a reasonable 300 CV. It will be paired exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (PDK) and will be rear-wheel drive. It will feature selective cylinder deactivation, meaning that in certain circumstances the 911 Blu Edition will use only 4 of its 6 cylinders. It will also come with Start&Stop as standard, as well as a energy regeneration system more typical of hybrid vehicles, which allows the alternator to be disconnected in virtually any situation.

The tyres will be developed exclusively by Michelin for this model, as will the roof. It is reportedly available only as a convertible, with a removable hard top weighing just 22 kg.
Performance does not suffer excessively, although on paper we are talking about the slowest 991 in the range. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 5.4 seconds, and it reaches a top speed of 266 km/h. Consumption is by far the most striking figure of the whole package. The homologated combined-cycle figure is a mere 6.2 litres per 100 km, a spectacular result in every sense.
