Porsche opens a new

If you are lucky enough to sit behind the wheel of a Porsche with an electric drive system, you should not hesitate to visit the new Charging Lounge in Hamburg. The experience it offers is sure to impress you.

The Stuttgart-based company has just opened its fifth charging station, under the name Charging Lounge, the first to adopt the company’s new modular concept for this type of installation. The location chosen for this station is also especially interesting, as it is located very close to the Porsche Service Center in the German city of Hamburg.

Looking back, it is worth recalling that the first Charging Lounge of Porsche in Germany opened its doors in the summer of 2023 in Bingen am Rhein, and it was soon followed by others in Estenfeld near Würzburg, Koblach in Austria and, most recently, in June 2024, in Ingolstadt.

The Charging Lounge in Hamburg has four ultra-rapid charging points, each of which is capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power. It is also available around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. At one of these charging points, the renewed Porsche Taycan can increase its battery charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

An unforgettable experience

Eighteen minutes may not, however, be enough to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the leisure area of this new Charging Lounge of Porsche. Inside, visitors can relax over a coffee, with a varied selection of drinks and snacks, a water dispenser and modern restrooms available, as well as high-speed WiFi.

Getting to this new Charging Lounge of Porsche in Hamburg is, on the other hand, very simple if you drive one of the brand’s electric models, as these facilities are already integrated into the navigation system and the My Porsche app, and a Porsche ID is required to access both the charging points and the leisure area.

This ID must be linked to the vehicle and, optionally, to the registration plate for automatic access via plate recognition. Alternatively, you can use the Porsche charging card or a QR code from the app to enter. Payment is handled automatically through the Porsche Charging Service, although payment by credit card is also possible if requested.

The design of this new Charging Lounge follows Porsche’s typical design language, but it stands out for its modular concept, an innovation developed in collaboration with Studio F.A. Porsche. This approach makes it possible to adapt the facilities to the shape of the terrain and allows for faster installation. Materials such as stainless steel, wood and stone were used in its construction, minimizing the use of concrete, and it relies on renewable energy to operate. A heat pump system, partially powered by photovoltaic panels on the roof, handles the interior temperature, while the digital management of the facilities allows energy consumption to be optimized, for example by automatically adjusting the lighting when there are no visitors.
