Porsche Taycan: new upgrades for the electric sports car
Porsche improves what seemed impossible: the Taycan is now faster and can be updated online without visiting the dealership.

New body colours or design packs to add more customisation options, digital radio as standard… No, Porsche was not going to announce changes to the Taycan just for this. The German brand is rolling out a series of improvements to the Porsche Taycan that were already scheduled before its first electric sports car reached the market.
Among them, a reduction in acceleration time that lets the stopwatch stop at 0 to 200 km/h 2 tenths sooner: 9.6 seconds. This gain is not attributable to the powertrain, which receives no changes. It comes from a reprogramming of the Launch Control.

In addition, the options list now includes a Head-up display instrumentation that projects information onto the windscreen, so drivers don’t have to take their eyes off the road, not even for the brief glance needed to check the impressive standard digital instrument cluster.
Faster and more convenient charging
However, one of the novelties that prospective buyers of a Porsche Taycan will appreciate most affects the charging process.
From the end of the year, a new optional 22 kW charger will be available as an alternative to the standard 11 kW unit. This will reduce charging time by almost half.

That is not all. Porsche also adds new charging-related features. Among them, the ability to limit maximum power at Ionity fast-charging stations, staying at 200 kW instead of 270 kW. This function is designed for use when you will be parked for longer than a fast charge would take, thereby protecting the battery’s service life.
A new feature called Power Ward is also included, designed to prevent possible electrical overloads when charging at home and to manage the use of electricity generated by photovoltaic panels. The Plug & Charge function, for its part, identifies the vehicle’s user as soon as the car is plugged into the charging point and allows payment to be made automatically.
Equipment on demand after purchase
Another very interesting novelty for the Taycan is the activation of the On-Demand Functions service. Taycan owners will be able to download and activate systems they did not pay for as options when buying the car. This activation can be permanent or for a set period.

Initially Porsche offers, on a purchase basis, Power Steering Plus, which adjusts assistance according to speed. Three other functions can be bought for permanent activation, or a monthly fee can be paid to activate them temporarily.
Among them is InnoDrive, an active lane-keeping assistant that takes into account navigation data such as bends and roundabouts. There is also active route guidance, which offers the best possible route based on battery charge and the charging points available along the way.

The Smartlift function, which allows the user to schedule automatic body raising so the car does not scrape on speed bumps or when entering a garage, will be the next to be offered in the Porsche Connect Store digital shop.
