Range Rover Evoque XL: new details confirmed

RR Evoque 1

The popular Evoque from Land Rover was updated a couple of months ago. Its main novelties are the new ZF automatic gearbox and the renewed technology equipment. For more significant changes to the Evoque range, we will have to wait for the reveal of its sporty version first and the XL body afterwards. We mentioned this last one in spring, but now there is more information about it thanks to Autocar.

The British publication states that, according to analysts at Bernstein Research, this variant, positioned between the RR Sport and the Evoque, will go on sale in 2016. Its internal code is L560, it will be built at the Solihull plant and it will share the aluminium platform, called iQ[Al], that Jaguar will use in models such as the new segment D saloon or its first crossover.

That architecture, together with the new family of four-cylinder “Hotfire” engines that JLR is developing, will make the Evoque XL one of the lightest models in the manufacturer’s line-up. According to the Bernstein Research report, the L560 could bring Land Rover annual sales of up to 80,000 units. That figure would make it the most profitable product of all those built on JLR’s aluminium platform.

If the future Jaguar crossover, according to the calculations of Autocar, will cost around 39,000 euros, the Evoque XL price range would run from 48,500 euros up to 65,000 euros. Although final prices will vary in our country, the difference with a standard Evoque would be 14,000 euros.
