Volkswagen has launched the road version of the car with which Sébastien Ogier has just been crowned World Rally Champion. The Volkswagen Polo R WRC is limited to 2,500 units and offers a version with sporty character in both its styling and its mechanics.

On the outside, you can easily tell it apart thanks to the R badge on the front grille and the WRC badge on the sides. In addition, to underline its sportiness, it features details such as sport bumpers, blue brake calipers and 18-inch alloy wheels.

It also has an identification number on the rear spoiler that lets you know the number of the unit you are looking at. Moving inside, you will find sport front seats with a specific WRC design, aluminium pedals and plenty of blue stitching across the steering wheel, Alcantara trim, dashboard or seats. As optional equipment, you can opt for the Night&Polo pack, which adds an anti-glare interior mirror and rain sensors, or the RNS 315 radio-navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen and 6 speakers. All of this can be complemented with self-levelling Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights or the automatic air conditioning system, Climatronic.

However, the most important thing about this Polo R WRC is under the bonnet, where it hides the 2.0 TSI engine which delivers 220 CV with a maximum torque of 350 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds, with a top speed limited to 243 km/h. For this sporty version of the Polo, a combined-cycle fuel consumption homologation of 7.5 litres per 100 km has been achieved, while urban consumption rises to 10.1 litres. As for the price you will have to pay to enjoy your road version of the Polo R WRC, it stands at 34,860 euros.
