Renault Arkana, the coupé-inspired SUV coming to Europe in 2021

We have seen it over the last few months and soon we will have it on Spanish roads, with a look that until now was reserved for higher-end ranges.

After several months reading a lot about the Renault Arkana, the time has finally come for this coupé-inspired SUV to be seen on Spanish roads. The model is an SUV that brings together all the characteristics of this type of vehicle and the lines of a coupé, which are bolder and more dynamic than what we are used to from traditional SUVs. A clear commitment by Renault to a style that is usually found in higher-end brands.

The European version of the Renault Arkana is based on the CMF-B modular platform, the same one used by the Renault Clio and the Captur. It will be manufactured in Busan, South Korea. Its arrival is scheduled for the first half of 2021, so we won’t have to wait long to get behind the wheel of this model.

Exterior design

A coupé-inspired SUV cannot look too bulky and must offer a striking, sporty look. The front gains presence thanks to the prominent, eye-catching logo, framed by the trim pieces and the LED headlights. At the rear there are also LED lights and a thin light strip that runs along the entire line of the boot.

The dimensions are suited to this type of vehicle, with a length of 4568 mm, a height of 1571 mm and a wheelbase of 2720 mm. This offers generous interior space for comfortable travel and an enjoyable journey. The various elements visible on the sides help create the attractive, powerful and dynamic image that this model is meant to project.

Technological interior design

The interior of the Renault Arkana is designed to make you discover a world of technology within the driver’s reach. In front of the driver is a 4.2, 7 or 10-inch screen, depending on the version, which displays all the instrumentation. The central 7 or 9.3-inch screen provides all the information and entertainment systems so they can be viewed easily.

There are more technological features being fitted to higher-end models, so the driver can enjoy equipment not usually found in cars of this type. These features enhance the model’s functionality and are available on certain trims, such as the cable-free electronic handbrake e-shifter found on the E-TECH trim.

As for the boot, it offers a capacity of 513 litres, although this drops to 438 litres in the hybrid version, as the battery takes up some of the space.

Engines

The new Renault Arkana will be available with a petrol engine. It is a 1.3-litre unit that will come in two power outputs, 140 and 160 CV. Two of them will feature a 12-volt mild hybrid system, powered by a battery located under the driver’s seat.

The third option is the Renault Arkana hybrid, which uses the same hybrid powertrain as the Renault Clio E-TECH and delivers 140 CV. This version is paired with a multi-mode gearbox, which improves the car’s performance. All trims can be specified with this hybrid version, from the entry-level grade up to the R.S. LINE trim.
