Renault Arkana, the French coupé-style SUV arriving in Europe in 2021
Although it is sold in several countries around the world, the Renault Arkana will change to reach the European market and adapt to European drivers

We already knew it from other markets, but now we will be able to see it on the roads of Europe. This is the Renault Arkana, an SUV with coupé bodywork that will soon arrive on the continent and will have a presence in the different markets of Europe from the year 2021.
The SUV segment is the one growing the most across all brands, and with it new prospects open up thanks to the appearance of variants with different bodystyles. In the case of the Renault Arkana, the French brand has taken inspiration from the style of coupé vehicles. In the Korean market it is known as the Samsung XM3, and in the Russian market it has achieved considerable success, as it was the model that started the French landing in the country.

A model for the European market
For the European market, this model designed for other markets has been used as a reference, and it has been adapted to European tastes and idiosyncrasies. Aesthetically we are looking at a car that is completely Renault, which takes the design language of all the brand’s other models and applies it to achieve a practical and elegant vehicle.
The front is dominated by the horizontal-format grille that reaches the headlights, which include LED daytime running lights, shaped like a C and extending down to the sides of the bumper. It is at the rear where the most changes compared to its siblings will be found, since although at the front we can find echoes of a Renault Captur, we will see how the tailgate is emphasised as it would be on a saloon and the light clusters are different, close to those found on the Mégane.
A key difference between the Renault Arkana sold in Russia and the one arriving in Europe is the platform it is built on. In Russia it uses the same one that forms part of the Dacia Duster, while for Europe it will use the base of the Samsung XM3, more modern and with greater equipment possibilities.
Mechanics of the Renault Captur
As for the mechanics, this new model of Renault will use the one we already saw in the Renault Captur. This means that under the bonnet we will probably find the 1.3 TCe petrol engine with 131 CV and 240 Nm and the 1.5 dCi diesel engine of 116 CV and 260 Nm.
A plug-in hybrid option is also expected for the Arkana, which would use a 91 CV combustion engine and two electric motors that would bring the combined power to 165 CV. Range in purely electric mode would reach 65 kilometres, which would guarantee it the CERO environmental label.
We do not know other details about the Renault Arkana, nor its exact arrival date or final price, so we will have to wait a little to find out the remaining details about this car. For now, we have the images of the Samsung XM3, which are quite close to the final image of the Renault Arkana that will be sold in Europe.
